Geography and history
Gobabis is the capital city of the Omaheke Province in Namibia. It is located in the eastern parts of the country and has a total population of approximately 14 000 residents. The city is situated 110 km from the border of Botswana and also serves as an important gateway to and from South Africa.
Gobabis is located in the heart of the cattle farming region and even has a statue of a Brahman bull greeting visitors who enter the city. This city is in close proximity to the well-known Kalahari Desert and is traditionally in the land of the Herero people.
